How to score Mexican Train
- When a round ends, every player turns their remaining dominoes face up.
- Each player adds up all the pips in their hand. Blanks count zero. The player who went out scores zero.
- Write each player's pips in that round's row. The sheet adds the running totals for you.
- Start the next round from the next lower double, shown next to each round number.
- After the last round (the 0-0 round with a double-12 set), the lowest total wins.
Example: you are left holding 9-7, 4-0 and 3-3. That's 16 + 4 + 6 = 26 pips, so you write 26 for the round. The full rules, including blocked rounds and common house rules, are on the Mexican Train rules page.
Using the online sheet
- Choose your set: double-12 gives 13 rounds, double-9 gives 10 and double-6 gives 7.
- Type the players' names at the top. Add up to eight players, or remove a column with the cross.
- The lowest total is highlighted, so everyone can see who is ahead without adding anything up.
- Clear scores keeps the names for the next game.

Frequently asked questions
How do you keep score in Mexican Train?
At the end of each round, every player counts the pips (dots) on the dominoes left in their hand and writes that number down. The player who went out writes zero. Add the rounds up as you go; after the last round the lowest total wins.
How many rounds are on a Mexican Train score sheet?
One per double in the set: 13 rounds for double-12 dominoes (12-12 down to 0-0), 10 for double-9 and 7 for double-6. Pick your set above and the sheet shows the right rounds with each round's engine.
Is this Mexican Train score sheet free to print?
Yes. Press Print sheet for a page with every round and its engine double, or download the blank PDF. A blank sheet has eight player columns; if you have typed names or scores, they are printed too.
Does the online score sheet save my game?
Yes. Names and scores are saved in this browser on this device, so you can lock your phone or close the tab between rounds and carry on.
What does the double-blank count?
Zero in the standard rules, since it has no pips. Some families score the 0-0 as 50 if you are caught holding it; if you play that way, type 50 for it.
What if two players tie for the lowest score?
The standard rules call it a shared win. Some groups break the tie by the most rounds won (rounds where the player went out).
